WATERLOO ROAD, STOCKTON,
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (RB CASE# 390609)
I reviewed the Ground Water Monitoring Report — First Quarter 2012 (Report) received 24 April 2012 from
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc. (AGE), the consultant for Deputy Dhaliwal. Groundwater monitoring
occurred on 1 May 2012. Depth to groundwater varied from 45' below ground surface (bgs) to 50' bgs.
Groundwater flow directed varied from the northwest (60'-80' bgs) to the northeast (100' bgs) to the southeast
(135' bgs) to the southwest (160' bgs) and to the northeast (185' bgs). Groundwater gradient varied from
0.0001 ft/ft to 0.002 ft/ft. Maximum groundwater concentrations were total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPHg), 4,400 ug/L; benzene, 520 ug/L; toluene, 480 ug/L; ethylbenzene, 450 ug/L; xylenes, 330 ug/L; methyl
tert butyl ether (MTBE), 1,200 ug/L; tertiary butyl alcohol, 2,400 ug/L; tert amyl methyl ether, 6.7 ug/L; and
1,2-dichoroethane, 12 ug/L.
The Report recommends continued limited groundwater monitoring, continued operation of the groundwater
pump and treatment system (GWPTS), and installation of one additional groundwater extraction well along the
western extent of the property. As previously stated by AGE during a meeting on 13 March 2012 the
additional groundwater extraction well would optimize the GWPTS efficiency by addressing contamination in
the 90' to 100' bgs sandy interval downgradient of offsite MW-11 (TPHg, 900 ug/L and MTBE, 830 ug/L).
I concur to the Report recommendations. Please submit the Work Plan for the new extraction well by
30 May 2012.
