Nuel Henderson [EH]
From: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 2:05 PM
To: 'rmarty©advgeoeny.com'
Cc: Harlin Knoll [EH]; Margaret Lagorio [EH]; Lori Duncan [EH]; Jim Barton (E-mail)
Subject: RE: Waterloo Food & Fuel
Bob,
Your summary of the points of agreement is generally good. Other issues discussed or agreed on include
EHD's willingness to approve the four proposed shallow GWE wells on the west portion of the subject site, but will
require a justification and cost/benefit analysis for the four proposed deeper GWE wells before approving their
installation. The data from —185 feet bsg should be reexamined to evaluate the appropriateness of installing a
single screen well in the 185-foot zone in the source area. The WFS well MW-7 (deep), upgradient to the site is
impacted by MTBE.
The necessity for additional upgradient wells should be reevaluated, perhaps using some WFS MWs or data can
achieve the desired goal of up-gradient delineation.
Nuel
Original Message
From: Robert Marty [mailto:rmarty@adygeoenv.com]
Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 12:36 PM
To: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Cc: 'Jim Barton'; Harlin Knoll [EH]; Margaret Lagorio [EH]; Lori Duncan [EH]; 'bill'
Subject: Waterloo Food & Fuel
Nuel:
Thank you for your input regarding the Waterloo Food & Fuel site yesterday; I believe the
meeting was productive in moving the project along and getting our arms around the extent of
impacts. The following is a brief summary of the action items that evolved out of our meeting
yesterday.
AGE will submit a Work Plan Addendum or (Work Plans) for the following:
Installation of "in-fill" or "in-board" wells to continue assessment of impacted ground water.
These wells will include one to be installed near the northeast corner of the "Arroyo's" site
(pending approval from the property owner).
Advancement and sampling of a "transect" of CPT borings in a generally north-south direction,
west-southwest of the subject site.
- Vertical definition of impacts in the source area (on-site).
Soil vapor intrusion sampling/evaluation, particularly along south side of property.
After the CPT results have been evaluated, we will determine the number and locations of
additional monitoring wells in a generally down-gradient direction.
Also: I researched the identification of other possible sources; evidently, quite some time ago, we
did some historical research in the area of the site to determine if there were any additional
sources (e.g. old gas stations). There are no Sanborn Fire Insurance maps available for the area
1/18/2007
