PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the EHD and encroachment
permits will be procured from the City of Stockton. In addition, a health and safety plan
will be updated in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual
for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985). SOIL PROBE BORING AND SOIL SAMPLING
AGE proposes to advance a total of seven (7) soil borings to total depths of 10 feet
below surface grade (bsg) for collection of soil samples for comparison to criteria
outlined on the LTCP, and to confirm soil sampling results near piping samples PL-2
through PL-6. Five (5) soil borings will be advanced adjacent to piping samples PL-2
through PL-6, one soil boring will be advanced in front of the onsite building, and one
soil boring will be advanced in the center of the site. All borings will be advanced
utilizing a direct-push drilling rig or a hand auger. Soil boring locations are depicted in
Figure 2.
Soil samples will be analyzed by a California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation
Program-certified (ELAP) lab for the following:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified (TPH-g) in accordance EPA method
8015M.
• Volatile organic compounds: benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
(BTEX), naphthalene, and fuel oxygenates MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), and tertiary
butanol (TBA) and lead-based fuel scavengers ethylene dibromide (EDB) and
1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260BB.
Laboratory reports for soil sample and water analyses, testing methods, laboratory
quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain-of-custody
documentation will be presented in a report with the findings and recommendations.
Electronic Deliverable Format (EDF) files of the laboratory analytical results will be
submitted to the State of California GeoTracker database
Procedures for advancement of soil borings and sampling are presented in Section 3.0.
