In-Situ Air Sparging Pilot Test Report
Former OCAMPO PROPERTY
821 North Wilson Way, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Victor Aranda, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared
this report for 821 South Wilson Way, Stockton, California (site). This report documents
the procedures and results of a 72-hour in-situ air sparging (IAS) pilot test performed in
December 2011. The site and surrounding area are illustrated on Figure 1. Structures and
well locations are illustrated on Figure 2. Site well details are summarized in Table 1. Site
background information is provided in Appendix A.
The purposes of the 72-hour IAS pilot test were to evaluate: (1) the feasibility of IAS as a
remedial alternative for ground water at this site, (2) the effects of IAS on the currently
installed soil vapor system and to (3) evaluate data to determine most appropriate IAS
network design for the site.
This report is prepared in accordance with guidelines established by the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Division for investigation of
underground storage tank (UST) sites. Pilot testing was performed in accordance with
procedures outlined in the AGE-prepared In-situ Air Sparging Pilot Study Work Plan, dated
31 October 2011.
2.0 IN-SITU AIR SPARGING PILOT TEST PROCEDURES
Between 19 December and 22 December an approximate 72-hour IAS pilot test was
conducted at the site.
The IAS was accomplished utilizing using monitoring well MW-6 (screened 70 to 75 feet
below surface grade [bsg]) as an active sparging point and pressure was supplied by an
electric air compressor to inject air beneath the water table at well MW-6. The on-site SVE
system was utilized to recover sparged vapor from well VW-1 throughout the duration of
the pilot test.
Prior to the commencement of the IAS pilot test, baseline depth to water and dissolved
oxygen (DO) measurements were collected from observation wells MW-1 through MW-5.
A baseline ground water sample was also collected from well MW-5 prior to system startup
to evaluate the short-term effects of air sparging at the well location. All sampleswere
analyzed by Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a State of California
Department of Public Health-certified analytical laboratory for the following constituents:
v•\
c • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA method
8015M;
Advanced GeoEnvironmcntal, Inc.
