Wastewater Treatment & Disposal Systems Standby Power:
Inquires made to the purveyor of electrical power to this area (PG&E) reveal that
occasional power outages occur that have durations of four (4) hours and less. Although
this duration of power outage can be accommodated within the plant's influent
equalization system, the Developer of the Castello Project has opted to have 100% stand
by power generation installed. This unit will be designed with an automatic transfer
switch to function during non-plant attendance. In addition, this function will be
monitored with the plant computerized TC2K system.
Wastewater Treatment Systems Esthetics and Security:
Plant Location:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant will be located on a portion of Lot #65. This lot
is located adjacent to the Storm Water Retention Pond. The location is shown on DWG
#2 in Section IV of this report.
Esthetics and Security:
The plant site will be bounded by a six (6) foot chain link fence with a locked gate
entry. The treatment plant and appurtenant equipment will be placed inside a locked
building. The facility will be unrecognizable from the outside as a Wastewater Treatment
Facility. The influent equalization tank and pumping station will be outside the building
but will be buried with only manhole covers at the ground surface. The entire Bio-
Purem treatment process, including the aerobic solids digestion system will be inside the
building.
Mitigation of Potential Odors:
By the very nature of all the treatment processes being "aerobic", the potential for
obnoxious odors being produced is practically nil. With the system being placed inside a
7
