VOCs with fuel oxygenates via EPA Method 8260B, and TPH as oil, diesel, and gasoline
via EPA Method 8015. The temporary well point will be constructed using one-inch
diameter schedule 40 PVC with a ten-foot screen interval in an attempt to collect grab
groundwater samples. Groundwater samples will be collected with a dedicated bailer or
peristaltic pump and dedicated tubing.
In the case of no groundwater encountered, a total of six soil vapor probes will be
installed in the above mentioned five boring locations at a depth of 5 feet bgs. A total of
six soil vapor samples will be analyzed for TPH as gasoline and VOCs using EPA
Method 8260B.
Following collection of the samples, all of the soil borings and the soil vapor probes were
backfilled with neat cement grout and restored to pre-drilling condition by applying
patching materials.
Level D PPE and Health & Safety according to OSHA CFR 1910.120 will be followed
during the field investigation.
Soil or wastewater generated during the field activities will be stored in 55-gallon drums
and will be shipped off-site for proper landfill disposal.
Exact locations of the soil borings will be determined at the time of pre-marking the site
and after utilities are cleared. Analysis of soil samples will be chosen based on field
observations, depth to groundwater (if applicable), and/or PLD readings.
The objective of the sampling plan is to evaluate the risk of a release from the historical
gasoline service station and dispensing operations. Note that the number of samples
collected may vary depending on field conditions. Locations will be determined at time
of field investigation and are anticipated to be within proximity to the former suspect
areas of concern.
Soil and Groundwater Sampling Methodology
A full access and/or limited access push probe rig with a licensed operator will be
mobilized to the site to complete the proposed scope of drilling and sampling activities.
All down-hole sampling equipment will be cleaned before starting a soil boring, with a
non-phosphate detergent and water before each use.
This bid proposal includes cost for mobilization and demobilization, liners, bentonite,
asphalt patch, fuel, and tubing. FR will backfill each boring with bentonite pellets.
Each borehole will be abandoned/filled with bentonite, and restored to pre-drilling
condition via applying patching materials.
Collect soil samples at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet, or at significant changes in
lithology. Attempt to collect the lowermost sample at or immediately above the
groundwater level if groundwater is encountered during drilling.
If groundwater is encountered at each borehole drilled, grab samples will be collected
down hole (either through the drive rods or temporary installed 1-inch PVC well
Fulcrum Resources Environmental
574 W.
