screen) using a peristaltic pump and disposal polyvinyl tubing under low flow
conditions.
Monitor the headspace of each sample for the presence of volatile organic compounds
using a photo-ionization detector (PID) or flame-ionization detector (FID).
The soil boring will be logged using the Unified Soils Classification System under the
supervision of FR's State Professional Geologist (PG) or Registered Professional
Engineer. Laboratory analysis will be compared to regulatory limits set forth by the
Department of Toxic Substances Control (DISC), and San Francisco Regional Water
Quality Control Board.
Groundwater results shall be obtained by installing temporary wells, and collecting
groundwater.
Soil Gas Sampling Methodology
Gas sampling will be performed by hydraulically pushing soil gas probes to depths of
approximately 5 feet bgs. Dedicated vapor probes from a limited access rig will be
sampled at a depth of five feet at specified areas of concern. Vapor samples will be
collected into Tedlar bags or Summa canisters using a peristaltic pump, Teflon tubing,
and a Masterflex tubing. Use of a peristaltic pump will ensure that sampled air does not
circulate through a pump, causing potential cross contamination and leakage. All tubing
will be discarded between sampling locations to eliminate the possibility of cross
contamination. Sample flow rate will be set from 0.5 to 1 liters per minute and measured
using a flow meter. Tedlar bags or Summa canisters used for sample collection will be
analyzed by a state certified laboratory.
Thank you for reviewing this Work Plan.
