trucks will be weighed on a separate scale dedicated to the
recycling area. Empty bins will be stored in the recycling area
(figure 2). All trucks and recycling bins will be owned by the
County.
Other recyclables such as yard waste, wood waste and other organics
will be stored in stockpiles in an open storage area east of the
recycling center (figure 2) until a sufficient quantity is
accumulated to efficiently process the materials. Additionally,
reusable materials will be removed from the waste stream, stored
on site, and redistributed to persons wishing to reuse such
materials. Persons wishing to obtain reusable materials can ask
the scalehouse attendant to direct them to the storage area east
of the Recycling Center (figure 2). A landfill employee will be
stationed in this area to handle any transactions.
Once the waste has been sorted for recyclables, the remaining waste
will be pushed into roll -off boxes on the south end of the
building. The roll -off boxes rest on a separate level
approximately eight feet lower than the tipping floor. When the
boxes reach capacity, they will be loaded onto County vehicles,
weighed, waste quantities recorded, and then transported to the
working face of the landfill for disposal.
3
