♦7
t10
4.2 WORK SITE SAFETY
The installation of the new GW monitoring wells does not include
excavation of refuse or contact with refuse. Buried refuse and other hurried
organic material produces LFG, which is approximately 50 percent methane
by volume and may contain other contaminants. The lower explosive limit
of methane is five percent by volume. Potential hazards of methane gas
are: fire, explosion and asphyxiation. The Contractor will be required to
ensure work areas meet safety requirents.
4.3 SAFETY PROCEDURES
A safety meeting will be held on the first day of the project to discuss all
safety issues with the Contractor.
