A well Installation and GW analytical report will be provided to RWQCB
according to RWQCB's monitoring well installation report requirements.
.1 RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY
The Drilling Contractor is required to ensure work area meets all safety
requirements. Drilling Contractor will be responsible for the safety of its
workers during this project and will be required to submit a drilling health
and safety plan.
4.2 SITE CONDITIONS
The installation of the new GW monitoring well does not include
excavation of refuse or contact with refuse.
Potential risk with Landfill Gas may be an issue but minimal as the new
GW well is further away from refuse footprint. NCRSL's perimeter LFG
migration monitoring wells have shown methane readings of less than one
percent by volume. The lower explosive limit of methane is five percent by
volume. Potential hazards of methane gas are fire, explosion and
asphyxiation.
4.3 SAFETY PROCEDURES
A. Drilling Contractor will conduct a safety meeting with County staff and
Contractor's employees before the start of the project. During the first
safety meeting, Drilling Contractor will inform employees not to touch
refuse if encountered. Employees will wear personal protective equipment
when working.
B. Prior to drilling, Underground Service Alert (USA) will be notified.
Presence of overhead power lines will be checked and its clearances with
the drilling equipment. The well location will be adjusted if required drill rig
clearances are not met.
Work Plan- NC -Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation San Joaquin County
Department Of Public Works
3 Solid Waste Division
