2. Make every effort to stop the flow of insulating fluid and contain the spill <br /> using manpower, equipment and materials on site or immediately <br /> available. <br /> 3. Immediately notify the Utility Operator and Electric Superintendent or <br /> Construction/Maintenance Supervisor. <br /> 4. Send for or pick up an insulating fluid spill cleanup kit. <br /> 5. Protective clothing must be worn by each person doing the cleanup work <br /> to protect against contact with insulating fluid material. If during cleanup <br /> the protective clothing becomes torn or ripped, it shall be replaced before <br /> proceeding with the cleanup. <br /> 6. Each type of surface contamination requires a different cleanup <br /> procedure. The following are recommended procedures to be followed. <br /> Secure approval of the owner, if possible, prior to removal of any of the <br /> following items: <br /> Soil: Remove contaminated soil to a minimum depth of 6". If <br /> there is still evidence of contamination in the soil, continue <br /> to remove soil until there is no evidence of contamination. <br /> Lawns: Remove contaminated grass and at least 2" of underlying <br /> soil. <br /> 3 <br />
