Housekeeping Department <br />San-i-pak Operation <br />Page 2 <br />If any parameter listed in steps 9 <br />cease operation at this point and <br />Director, Infection Control Nurse <br />Appropriate measures will be taken <br />before operation is resumed. <br />and <br />11 has not been met, <br />notify the Housekeeping <br />or Safety Officer. <br />to correct any problems <br />If parameters of step 19 and #11 are met, continue as <br />follows: <br />STEP 12 Slide the compartment door to general waste closed <br />and lock. <br />STEP 13 Depress the blue discharge button once more and the <br />sterilizer chamber will return to the original <br />location. <br />STEP 14 Depress the single compact button, adjacent to the <br />general waste door, and the sterilized waste will be <br />moved into the receiver and compacted. <br />STEP 15 Once the contaminated waste has been properly <br />disposed of and the unit is to be shut down, open <br />both chambers individually and with -the cleaning <br />wand wash the interior and exterior of each chamber <br />as needed. <br />STEP 16 Upon completion of each cycle, record the following <br />information onto the appropriate log which is kept <br />for a minimum of three years: <br />- that a minimum of 250 F was maintained for a <br />minimum of 30 minutes. <br />- that the externally applied heat -sensitive <br />tape has brown and black stripes. <br />The seven-day time/temperature graph record shall be kept a <br />minimum of three years. <br />Biological testing with Bacillus stearothermophilus shall be <br />done monthly by placing the indicator in the center of a load <br />and following the standard operating procedures. The results <br />shall be recorded and kept a minimum of three years.
