Dameron Hospital Association <br />PharmaSafetyTM Containers <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES <br />• No medications may be disposed of in the regular trash or sewered. <br />• Pharmaceutical wastes are not to be placed into red biohazardous waste bags or shams <br />containers. <br />Containment <br />PharmaSafetyTM Containers: <br />✓ Blue and white containers - 18 gal., 8 gal., 3 gal., 2 gal. <br />✓ For pharmaceutical waste only <br />✓ Single -use <br />✓ For incineration only. <br />✓ Wall mount and/or cart mount. <br />✓ Each container is to be closed, locked, and secured. <br />EVS Responsibilities: <br />1. Removal and delivery of full containers from floors/units to the waste storage area. <br />2. Provision of new containers to floors/units requesting replacement of full container. <br />3. Assembly and maintenance of limited supply of new containers accessible to EVS staff. <br />4. Ensuring container lids are closed and tightly fitted when full prior to handling/transport. <br />5. Dating of container label when removing full container to storage area. <br />Container Setup: <br />✓ Each container is to have a white absorbent pad. These pads are packaged in a zip lock bag in each <br />case. One pad is dropped in the bottom of the container. <br />■ 2 gal. container — Place lid and tighten short half of lid perimeter. <br />■ 3 gal. container — Place lid and tighten entire perimeter. <br />■ 8 gal. container — <br />• Surgery, L&D, Shortstay Surgery --Place lid and tighten short side; long side remains open. <br />• Red Cart — Clip lid into lid holder. <br />■ 18 gal. container — Place lid and tighten short side only; long side remains open. <br />✓ Place the container in the cart or mounting hardware —close and lock it in place with the key or <br />padlock, as necessary. <br />
