Dating of container label when removing full container to storage.
Container Setup:
Each container is to have a white absorbent pad. These pads are packaged in a zip lock bag in each
case. If you take a container to the floor make sure to drop a pad in the bottom of the container.
Each case will also have two tamper proof stickers per container. After you lock on the container lid
a sticker should be placed on both ends of the container to prove that it has not been tampered with.
Place the container in the cart or mounting hardware — close and lock it in place.
Container Removal:
Write the date the container is full and removed from service on the container label provided.
V Verify that the container lid is closed and tightly fitted.
Handling
--v
• All container lids must be closed except when someone adds to the waste.
• Containers should be replaced when 3/4 full.
• Once the pharmaceutical waste has been placed in the proper container and it is full, Environmental
Services will be contacted to remove it from the area and replace with a new container.
• Each container has a gasketed lid - this is to ensure that the contents do not spill if tipped over.
When handling these containers keep the container upright to guarantee that the waste does not leak.
Transportation
• EVS will pickup the full container from the Satellite Workplace Accumulation Site and deliver it
directly to the Central Waste Storage Facility.
• Full containers are not to be left unattended in any area.
• As a full container may be heavy, hand carrying of containers is not advisable — use a cart.
• Entry to Central Waste Storage Facility is via a keyed door and a padlocked gate.
Storage
Central Waste Storage Area — Basement Level adjacent to Plant Operations access ramp across from
Carpenter's Shop.
