BURN UNIT <br /> Disposable materials contaminated with drainage (e.g , <br /> dressings ) are disposed of as infectious waste ., <br /> F. INFECTIOUS SHARPS <br /> Infectious sharps are disposed of as per the Sharps <br /> Disposal Policy/Procedure, <br /> G . PATIENT CARE AREAS AND ANY DEPARTMENT WHERE INFECTIOUS <br /> WASTE IS GENERATED OR RECEIVED <br /> 1 . Patients in Precautions/ I.solation <br /> Disposable items that may be contaminated by the <br /> infectious material from isolation patients are disposed <br /> of as infectious waste , <br /> 2. Dialysis Waste <br /> Dialysis lines and membranes are disposed of as <br /> infectious waste., <br /> 3 .. If feasible, blood or other body fluids shall be disposed <br /> of into, the sewer system fn a ' mann.er such as to prevent <br /> splashing or exposure to the employee, <br /> 4. Any disposable materials that contain recogni.z.able <br /> blood or blood products that i s- fl�ui_d shall- be <br /> disposed of as infectious wa.ste.. <br /> NOTE: See also policies for specific departments <br /> II ..
