DAMERON HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION Sas WEST ACACIA STREET STOCKTON CALIFORNIA 95203 Housekeeping Department SANI -PAK OPERATION STEP # 1 Unlock sterilizer door by turning "hatch wheel " to left , until the door to the unit opens . STEP # 2 Place " red bagged" contaminated waste into appropriate "Autoclave Bags . " Then place these bags immediately into the sterilizer chamber. STEP # 3 With the "cleaning wand" , puncture each autoclave bag with the pointed end , injecting each bag with water . ( During the sterilizing cycle , this water will heat to steam, thereby sterilizing the interior and contents of each bag ) . STEP # 4 Place "Thermo- Indicator" strip in the center of waste to be sterilized . STEP # 5 Close the sterilizer door and turn "hatch wheel " continuously to the right until tight. Door is now secure and the unit is ready for operation . STEP # 6 Proceed to the control panel on the far right of the unit. Insert the key in the top (of three) operational switch and turn to the right . This is the main power switch and , once activated , supplies power to the entire unit . The green indicator lamp is now lit . STEP # 7 Once "Step #6" is completed , depress the center push button which activates the sterilizer cycle. The red indicator lamp is now lit . STEP # 8 Monitor the "Automatic Time/Temperature Recorder" until it reaches 2700 . STEP # 9 Check the "Pressure Guage" and ensure it reads 20 P . S . I . . STEP 1# 10 Wipe down " cleaning wand" , and insert into sleeve containing germicidal solution. STEP # 11 The unit remains operational for a thirty ( 30) minute cycle . At the end of the cycle the blue "Discharge" lamp will be lit . Depress the blue discharge button and the sterilizer chamber will automatically move forward over the general waste hopper , and the sterilized waste will drop into this chamber . All remaining pressure will be released at this point , and the door will be safe to open .
