Soil Suitability Report BSK Job E21-002-01B
Cascade BESS Project August 26, 2021
Stockton, California P a g e | 1
1.INTRODUCTION AND PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
On behalf of AECOM, BSK Associates (BSK) prepared this Soil Suitability Report (Report) for the proposed
Cascade BESS Project located at 2482 Carpenter Road in Stockton, California, within San Joaquin County
Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN) 179-140-180-000. The study was conducted pursuant to the San Joaquin
County Onsite Systems Manual (Onsite Manual) (San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department,
2017) based on the requirement from San Joaquin Environmental Health Department. The scope of the
work includes a Nitrate Loading Study prepared by using publicly available data collected by BSK and Site-
specific data that were provided to BSK by AECOM, soil percolation tests, and field exploration with soil
borings and field electrical resistivity tests.
This Report includes a Site Vicinity Map, Site Septic Map, and Boring and Percolation Test Location Map
(Figures 1-A, 1-B, and 1-C).Appendix A displays the parcel vicinity map.Appendix B provides the permits
of past septic system installation and repairs at the site.Appendix C contains water quality data from a
United States Geologic Survey (USGS) well - Site Number: 375545121141601 Site Name:
001N007E17N001M.Appendix D contained the boring logs from the field exploration.Appendix E
contains the complete percolation forms from the percolation tests.
This Report presents general site information, septic tank usage and history, groundwater information,
percolation results, and soil profile.
1.1 Description of Site
The site is located South of Carpenter Road and approximately 500 feet east of Pock Road at 2482
Carpenter Road in Stockton, California (Figure 1-A). The site is currently split approximately in half with
the northern section being occupied by three buildings being used as an Adult Care Facility and the
southern section is an undeveloped field.
Surrounding the site is mixed residential and agriculture use. Adjacent to the site to the east and toward
the north are large orchards that could be sources of nitrate due to fertilizer use. To the south and west
are residential homes and an electrical substation.
1.2 Description of Proposed Development
The site is planned to have a new septic system installed on the northeastern edge of the site for the three
existing buildings while a planned electrical substation is proposed to be constructed on the southern
portion of the site. Based on an email with Andrew Agopian from AECOM on February 25, 2021, the Adult
facility has approximately 28 people including staff that occupy the three buildings. The proposed leach
line field is comprised of two areas that are 70 feet wide by 120 feet long.
