The formatting of this report has been designed to follow, to the greatest degree
possible, San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department (EHD) Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist, dated September 25, 2007 and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements
Checklist, dated July 14, 2003.
1.0 SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
1.1 Introduction and Development
The Soil Suitability Study (SSS) was conducted to determine whether site soils are suitable for
septic system usage. The study was performed according to the requirements of Section 9-
110.05.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code. A major element of the field work
included conducting percolation tests that meet absorption rates as specified by EHD. A review
of published soil information, geologic maps, and groundwater information was also performed.
1.1.1 Site Description
The site consists of an approximately 2.28 -acre tract of vacant land located at 1362 North Shaw
Road, Stockton, California, San Joaquin County, California, Assessor Parcel Number (APN) 143-
260-06.
According to the San Joaquin County District Viewer the site is zoned Warehouse Industrial (I-
W). Based on a review of the San Joaquin County Community Development Department website,
the I -W zoning designation is intended to accommodate warehouses and service establishments
connected to septic systems, without the production of industrial waste.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Lodi South (1976), Waterloo (1978)
Stockton East (1987), and Stockton West (1987) California Quadrangles, the elevation of the site
is between approximately 25 to 30 feet above mean sea level with a topographic gradient
generally sloping towards the west-southwest.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 3
