MQUNITAIN HOUSE SPECIFIC PLAN I I <br />CHAPTER FIVE: rEDUCATION, CHtLD GARE AN❑ LIBRARY SERVICES <br />6.1 INTRODUCTION <br />This chapter summarizes Master Plan provisions related to education, child care, and <br />librafy "rviu@s, and states bath the Plan description and Implementation Measures for SP <br />II_ Additional information may Le found in Chapter Three: Land Use and Chapter Four: <br />DevOopment and Nsign. <br />5.2 SCHOOLS <br />Master pian Summary <br />The school district serving Mountain House Is the Lammersville Jnifiad School District for <br />grades K-8 and for grades 9-12. The district will provide the schools as needed. Interlm <br />facilities at existing schools wiR be provided Wp re the fast on-site schools are completed. <br />The +.ammunity will be designed for integration of school and other eommunity facilities for <br />compatible joint operation and shared maintenance casts. Links between stftal facilities <br />and other services acid users are to be prornoted for a variety of uses as outlined in fhe <br />Feaster Plan.. <br />�wEleyui► K -d Schools are to be sited to serve the ninElen proposed family <br />neighborhoods and the two mixed active adult and family neighborhoods, Neighborhoods <br />J and K, which Will share one K-$ school. The K-8 sites will be located in Neighburhood <br />Canter's wilfin 1% miles walking distance of the substantial msioriCy of homes In the <br />neighborhood to faailtate pedest4ari circulation and relnforce neighhorhood structure. 14-a <br />school core faailltfes will be lacated as Far as practical from cornmerciel areas, be bantered <br />from commercial usea with play%lds and p44fk, And hive access tram different streets. <br />Each site will contain up to 16 acnes. In addition, aach K-8 School will have shared use fff <br />an adjacerd 2.4 acres of neighborhood park for athletic fields that is separated from the <br />school core facillt6as by laticiscaping, trees, or low fencing that allows convenient access. <br />Each K -S school will accommodate the student generation of its neighborhood, targeted to <br />an optimum of approximately 750 students, wiRh a maximum Of 870 students. <br />As required by the Master Plan. the Lammersville Unified School Oistriet has prepared a <br />comprehensive report on educational tadlitles for the entire Mountain House community. <br />The report, Master EdueaflonM SAecificalions for KC -U Elementary SchoRis in the Mountain <br />House Masler'Plani, addresses education program, building program, implemanlatiarl <br />strategics, and background information- School facility construction plans are phased and <br />MI be triggered by development rn lestohea outlined by the report. <br />One high sLtool will be sited in Mountain House to provide efficient access to all portions <br />of the community and serve the expected distribution of high school students. The high <br />school site will contaln up to 46.5 acres and be planned to aceopnmadate 2,300 to 21404 <br />students. Land and funding for the schools shall be provided as described in the Public <br />Finaaoing Plan. School Factlities Master Plarr$ acid School Funding agreements. <br />All school sites will be Ionated to avoid pubiic health and safety hazards and land use <br />contlicts and enable joint use of park5, IfUraries, tlluseurns, and other public services <br />whenever passible. The Master Plan sets forth school siting criteria Consistent with State <br />requirements that are to be implemented by subsequent Specific Pians.
