3 TRANSFER STATION INFORMATION <br />3.1 TRANSFER STATION ACTIVITIES <br />3.1.1 Station Maintenance <br />Preventative maintenance and station repairs are conducted as necessary. Station personnel <br />have been instructed to report any defective or deteriorated conditions to their supervisor. In <br />addition, supervisory personnel frequently monitor the facility for defective or deteriorated <br />conditions. When a problem is identified prompt repair will be implemented. <br />3.1.1.1 Cleaning and Housekeeping <br />The MRF and facility grounds are cleaned of loose materials and litter each operating day in <br />accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17407.2 (a) (1). A clean-up crew is dispatched regularly to <br />provide general housekeeping at the facility. The crew is responsible for the collection of any off- <br />site litter which may have been generated by the facility. Litter pick-up within the facility yard and <br />around the station is conducted on a continual basis to prevent the tracking or off-site migration <br />of waste materials. <br />Facility housekeeping is conducted to minimize the accumulation of materials (i.e., used parts, <br />inoperable equipment, tires, scrap and similar items) inherent in the operation of a MRF. <br />Housekeeping includes removing litter from the site, sweeping the self -haul area at the end of <br />each operating day. Housekeeping activities are conducted on a continual basis by facility <br />personnel. <br />3.1.1.2 Container Cleaning <br />Containers (i.e., recycle bins, refuse cans, debris boxes) utilized for the storage and/or transport <br />of waste are cleaned on an as -needed basis, usually to remove accumulated dust and dirt <br />Lovelace MRF and Transfer Station Department of Public Works/Solid Waste Division <br />Transfer Processing Report County of San Joaquin <br />April 10, 2015 <br />19 <br />
