SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak Geo Environmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Dean and Jody Shibler
to conduct a Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study for his property located at
3592 and 3434 West Sargent Road, Lodi, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study are combined under this report
cover and presented as two sections of this report. The formatting of the report has
been designed to follow the recommendations of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
Lot line adjustment projects typically do not require Soil Suitability and Nitrate Loading
analysis. However, because the proposed project is creating a homesite parcel less
than two acres in size, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department has
requested this study. Although the entire property is discussed, percolation testing and
nitrate loading analysis have only been performed on the proposed homesite parcel.
Proposed Development
The Shiblers are proposing a lot line adjustment to create a one-acre homesite parcel at
3592 West Sargent Road (Plate 2). No new construction is proposed.
Site Description
The Site is defined as Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APN) 025-140-08 and -09, 45.63
acres in size. The Site is located at 3592 and 3434 West Sargent Road, Lodi.
The Site is currently vineyard with two houses, a small studio "cottage," two garages,
and a storage building. Two domestic wells, two irrigation wells, and two septic systems
serve the property (Plate 3).
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 22 to 24 feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat
(Plate 4).
LOGE 2151 Page 1
