Project activities shall not cause turbidity increases in surface water to <br />exceed: <br />• Where natural turbidity is less than 1 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTUs), <br />controllable factors shall not cause downstream turbidity to exceed 2 NTU; <br />• Where natural turbidity is between 1 and 5 NTUs, increases shall not exceed 1 <br />NTU; <br />• Where natural turbidity is between 5 and 50 NTUs, increases shall not exceed 20 <br />percent; <br />• Where natural turbidity is between 50 and 100 NTUs, increases shall not exceed <br />10 NTUs; <br />• Where natural turbidity is greater than 100 NTUs, increases shall not exceed 10 <br />percent. <br />In determining compliance with the above limits, appropriate averaging periods <br />may be applied provided that the Qualified Biologist, Biological Monitor, or CDFW <br />determine that aquatic life will be fully protected. Averaging periods may only be <br />used with prior permission of CDFW. <br /><2.1 Staging and Storage Areas. Construction equipment, building materials, fuels, <br />lubricants and solvents shall not be stockpiled or stored where they could be <br />washed into State waters or where they will cover aquatic or riparian vegetation. <br />0 Equipment over Drip Pans. Stationary equipment such as motors, pumps, <br />generators, compressors and welders, located within or adjacent to the stream and <br />riparian areas shall be positioned over drip -pans. <br />2. Check Equipment for Leaks. Any equipment or vehicles driven and/or operated <br />adjacent to the stream and riparian corridor shall be checked and maintained daily <br />by the Permittee and their contractors to prevent leaks of materials that if <br />introduced to water could be deleterious to aquatic life, wildlife or riparian habitat. <br />Vehicles shall be moved away from the stream prior to refueling and lubrication. <br />1) Hazardous Materials. Any hazardous or toxic materials that could be deleterious to <br />aquatic life that could be washed into State waters or their tributaries shall be <br />contained in watertight containers or removed from the project site. <br />2.15 Imported Materials. Permittee shall not import, take from or move any rock, gravel, <br />and/or other materials within Atherton Cove, Smith Canal or the San Joaquin River, <br />their streambeds or banks except as otherwise addressed in the Project <br />Description. <br />2.16 Debris and Waste Disposal. Permittee shall not dump any litter or construction <br />debris within the project area. All such debris and waste shall be picked up daily <br />and properly disposed of at an appropriate site. Upon completion of operations <br />and/or onset of wet weather, all construction material and/or debris shall be <br />removed from the project work site to an area not subject to inundation.
