Emergency equipment operating instructions, escape routes, emergency <br />response (including a separate section on AC WM ) and evacuation procedures are identified <br />in the Contingency Plan. <br />The RRF/Compost Facility equipment and vehicles are maintained to prevent fires by <br />frequently removing debris and dust from the undercarriages and engine compartments...Qf <br />the heavy equipment. and checking for, and repairing, oil and fuel leaks. Portable fire <br />extinguishers are provided on all heavy equipment veh iol es and facility office trailers. The <br />entrance facilities and maintenance buildings are also equipped with fire extinguishers for <br />extinguishing any minor fires. An y fire in a waste fill area will be extinguished by landfill <br />personnel using appro p riate landfill equipment. stockpiled soil cover. and when necessary . <br />a water truck. The fire department will be notified of any fire incident that cannot be <br />immediately extinguished. Landfil l perso nne l are trained to perfo r m initial f ire suppression <br />aetivities using approp ri at e site equipment, stoc l ~piled soil cover, and water. There are <br />three wa t er wells at t he site. A 2,000 gpm well at t he landfill entranee facility, a 1,000 gpm <br />well f or f ire and d ust control at t he rear of t he RRF, and a 20 gpm f or domestio use looated <br />in t he fro nt of the f ac ility. An approxima t e 8,000 gallon wa t er tanl< wi ll be loeated in t he <br />Sout h Area near t he Compos t Facility operations area. <br />The on -site water wells and a water storage tank provide water for fire suppression. The <br />well at the entrance facilities area has a 1 .500-gpm pump that feeds four valved connection <br />points along the northern perimeter of the landfill. The well at the RRF has a 500-gpm <br />pump that feeds a 10.000-gallon pressurized tank (see Figure 2 ). Lines from the tank lead <br />to various locations. <br />In additio n to measu res tal<en at the faoility to ensure an adequate landfi ll per imeter <br />clearance, the site is trave rsed by t he Sout h Fo rl < whic h creates a natural fire breal<. The <br />des ign of the compost fac ility allows for suff icien t en t ry of fire contro l eq ui pment to aocess <br />all operat ional areas in acco rdance "'l ith 14 CCR, Sec t ion 17867(a)(8).
