1-7
• Agricultural waste "include wastes resulting from the production and processing of
farm or agricultural products . including manures. pruning and crop residues wherever
produced."
• Feedstocl{ means "any compostable material used in the production of compost Of
ch i pped and ground materia l including, but not limited to , agricultural material, green
materia l, food material, biosolids , and mixed solid waste. Feedstool{s shall not be
oOAsidered as either additives or amendments."
The Compost Facility wHt-receive § waste from non reoyolab le material separated at the RRF,
municipalities, and commercial self haulers. The facility wi ll beis designed to process the
maximum volume of feedstock based on the available land. The permitted maximum daily
throughput for the Compost Facility is 1,100 tons. however. Agctual throughput, including
volume of each feedstock. will depend on the composting technology and the availab ility!e
of the feedstock. Feedstock tonnages will not exceed 100,000 tons annually without prior
notification and approval of the LEA.
1.3.1 Maximum Daily Load Capacity
Gi~'B an estimate of tRo maximum daily load capacity of tflo ;facilitj~ Include tRo ca/eulations
usod in eolermining tRoso capacities. The
maximum daily load capacity for this optionthese two alternatives is presented below.
Additional alternatives options may be investigated in the future . if necessary .
Alternative 1 . Compost Windrows Turned by Front End Loaders
The maximum daily load capac ity for the I/,lindrow Compost Faoil ity turned by f ront end
loaders is approximately 640 TPD. This capaoity is based on the follow i ng assumptions:
• 8ix day per weel< operations.
• Up to approximately 8 aeres for compost Windrows .
• \ ..... 'indrows are approximately 16 feet \vide at the base with approximately 10 feet
between each pa i r of VJindrows to allow turning using front end loaders.
• Wi ndrows are approx i mately 8 feet high.
• Compost i ng period is projeeted to be approximately 4 to 12 wee l{s , depend ing on
produGt desired.
• Curing period is projected to be apprm(imately 1 to 6 months, depending on product
desired.
• 40 persent volume reduct ion during composti ng.
Forward Composting Facility SWT Engineering
Report of Composting Site Information -May 2014
z:\projects \al lied waste \forward\resource recovery facil ity \5 yr permit rvw 2013·14\rcs i 2014\text\sec 1 · revtr.doc
