Box 1810
Stockton, CA 95201
SUBCHAPTER 15 MONITORING PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION, FOOTHILL LANDFILL, SAN JOAQUIN
COUNTY, CASE NO. 1928
We received the Subchapter 15 Monitoring Program Implementation Report, dated
14 September 1989. Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 89-018 for Foothill
Landfill requires the ground water surface elevation in all wells to be measured
on a quarterly basis. This information is to be displayed on a water table
contour map and/or ground water flow net for the site. This was not included
in the monitoring report. The report is satisfactory, but there is a mistake
in Table 1. The table lists the Top Of Casing (TOC) , Top of Perforations (TOP),
and Bottom of Perforations (BOP) for LW-1 as 310.40 MSL. Table 2 lists the TOC
for LW-1 as 310.40 MSL. What are the TOP and BOP for LW-1, or are they known?
Is this well screened at several intervals? Are there any well logs in existence
for this well? In the report you state that approximately 1500 gallons of water
are removed from the well every 15 minutes (100 gpm) throughout the day. Is it
possible that this amount of flow out of the well could cause a change in the
direction of flow of the ground water? Has there been any study to determine
how this extraction affects the local ground water gradient? The quarterly water
table contour maps could help in determining if there is any effect.
Please address the above questions by 15 November 1989. If you have any
questions, please call me at (916) 361-5737.
f
falh Y K.
