May 12th, 1975
Environmental Review Committee
County of San Joaquin
1830 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California
Gentlemen: RE: WALNUT ACRES SUBDIVISION
If we were more versed in the contents of this report I'm sure we'd have more com-
ments to make on the accuracy and completeness of same.
PAGE 20, SCHOOLS: As this corner is strictly in the Waverly and Linden High School
Districts this paragraph in its present structure is misleading, as it would appear
that there are actually three elementary schools available. There should be more
detail as to why these others are listed. We also feel there should be a statement
as to how this influx of children will effect the school and buses.
PAGE 21, RECREATION: To read this one would assume you step from your front door into
"FANTASY LAND". These activities are located in Stockton but not within walking or
bicycling distance. There is, in fact, NO recreation immediately at their disposal.
Can't you just see approximately 109 children flooding the existing neighbors orchards
and farmlands disrupting the farm animals "just for kicks" and "free fruit and nuts".
In addition to these attractions we have the river, "additional drownings perhaps" or
lottering at the railroad tracts??? We see nothing but a lot of potential problems,
not only for the children, but our neighborhood. We would also be in need of at least
one additional Sheriff to keep these kids safe.
PAGE 22/23, A-1. States Uniform Building Code, sec. 9.075 requires a preliminary soil
report; - Where is it? What were the results?
2. This paragraph states lowering water table and possible contamination?
This doesn't go into enough detail as to the effect this would have on existing resi-
dences, nor what corrective measures will or should be taken.
PAGE 25, 3rd paragraph: "Interference with bacterial culture" just what type of polic-
ing does the subdivision plan to take to insure its occupants rake their leaves, etc?
PAGE 28, 1st paragraph: This paragraph is not realistic! !
3rd paragraph: Lift, Hell! ! Since when does one consider a congestion of
homes preferential over open spaces or a lovely green or freshly disced orchard?
4th paragraph: What effect will this have on possible polution of our ground
water?
PAGE 28, POSITIVE Cpl. Counterbalance pressures? Whoses?
2. Stockton is already overdevelopedlets wait, why be premature?
PAGE 29, NEGATIVE #2. Its our understanding there is a real potential mess with Stockton
Verde Trailer Park, handling their sewerage problem. They are not that far from us.
-27-
-1-
