Box 1810
Stockton, CA 95201
EVALUATION MONITORINGPLAN AMENDMENT,FOOTHILL SANITAR Y LANDFILL,
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY(CASE NO. 1928)
On 21 March 2001 the Regional Board received a"Proposed Evaluation Monitoring Plan Amendment"
in which the county proposes installing two groundwater monitoring wells to evaluate the VOC release
previously noted in samples from groundwater monitoring well MW-3. The proposed locations shown
in figure attached to the county's letter are more than 2000 feet south and southeast of MW-3 and are
therefore not adequate to delineate the release along the west and southwest side of the present landfill.
The three groundwater monitoring wells currently in place provide a simple understanding of the
groundwater flow direction and gradient and indicate that flow is southwesterly. New wells to evaluate
the release should therefore be located no more than 500 feet southerly, southwesterly, or west
southwesterly from MW-3. Please review your proposed well locations and resubmit your proposal for
new wells by 25 May 2001. Your proposal should include schematic well designs and a schedule to
complete work.
If you have any questions, please telephone me at(916) 255-3137.
WENDY W.
