Box 1810
Stockton, CA 95201
REVIEW OF THIRD QUARTER 2001 MONITORING REPORT,FOOTHILL SANITARY
LANDFILL, SAN JOA QUIN COUNTY(CASE NO. 1928)
We have reviewed the Foothill Sanitary Landfill, Third Quarter 2001, Groundwater and Surface Water
Monitoring Report, dated 15 October 2001.
MW-3 detected 1,4-Dichlorobenzene at 0.18 µg/1,tetrachloroethene at 0.086 µg/1, and trichlorethene at
0.065 µg/1 during the 3rd quarter monitoring event. An Evaluation Monitoring Program was submitted
May 2001. The monitoring report indicates an upward trend for sulfate in monitoring wells MW-2 and
MW-3. We expect the Annual Monitoring and Reporting Program will provide an evaluation of these
trends.
Based upon comments in the attached checklist,we request the County provide a signed Standard
Observations form. We also require EPA Method 7199 (ion chromatography) for hexavalent chromium
be used instead of EPA Method 7196 (colorimetric) for future monitoring.
The attached Monitoring Report Compliance Checklist will be included in the case file for Foothill
Sanitary Landfill.
If you have any questions or comments, please call me at(916) 255-3137.
KIM A.
