The proposed development and the surrounding areas are
_ being considered for future development on septic systems -and
will concentrate large volumes of` sewige-effluent in the
soil. Water quality for these concentrated developments with
existing soil types require adequate monitoring provided by
law for public water systems. This safety feature would not
be provided by individual residential water wells.
5. Present legislation (AE859) will extend the number of
chemicals allowed in public water systems by 12. The Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) will be established for these
additional chemicals allowing for a more broader protection
of the underground water acquifer. This extended protection
will not cover individual residential water wells.
The public health of the future residents can be better
served by retaining the conditions set forth in the Health
Districts recommended conditions.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., MPH
Dist4VaaII'in`ot`I,
ict H alth Offficer
" Director
Environmental Health Division
RV.jw
cc.
