Weber Ave., Room 741
Stockton, CA 95202
RE: Zone Reclassification No. ZR 87-34
Traina Brothers
The San Joaquin Local Health District recommends that all
conditions specified in items 3. a,b and c, (see attached),
be retained as part of any approval for this Zone
Reclassification and subsequent major subdivision.
The Health District's position is as follows:
1. A public water system is inspected, sampled and monitored
on a routine basis. This service assures the users that
water quality standards related to bacteria, chemical,
pressure and volume are in compliance with the requirements
of Title 22 CA Administrative Code.
2. Documented water quality tests on wells within the
proposed development area indicate marginal water quality
for Nitrates, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and Specific
Conductance (S.C.). These small public water systems are
being monitored and subject to the installation of water
treatment equipment if future tests indicate that they exceed
State Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL).
3. California Regional water Quality Control Board personnel
are working on a Trichloroethene (TCE) contamination problem
in the groundwater on and around the Tracy Defence Depot.
The Depot is located within a 0.5 mile radius of the proposed
development. Regional Water Quality Control Board personnel
are also working on a Chloroform contamination problem
approximately 0.5 mile south of the proposed development.
A public water system is the only entity required to be
routinely monitored for the potential migration of these
chemicals off site and into the surrounding water wells.
Indvidual residential water wells would not be subject to
this routine monitoring.
