STATE OF CALIFORNIA GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN Gove•nnr
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD— !
,CENTRAL VALLEY REGION f•-,,.
3443 ROUTIER ROAD
I Y`
SACRAMENTO, CA 96827-3098
2 October 1987
Mr. Ed Pvlican
6060 Hogan Lane
Lodi, CA 95204
REPORT OF INSPECTION, SAN JOAQUIN
On 11 February 1987, I inspected Mr. Pylican's facility in Lodi. Mr. Pylican
sorts and grades cherries that are brought to the facility in a brine solution.
The cherries are sorted, graded, and placed back into the same brine solution
for shipping. Any brine that is not collected by their collection system drains
into a 500 gallon holding tank which is taken to a transfer station whenever it
becomes fu71. The only water that is discharged onto their land (5 to 10
gallons/day) is water that is used to wash the floor and equipment that has not
come into contact with the brine solution. Based on this information, we do not
feel there is a threat to water quality at this time. Should further investi-
gation reveal a potential water quality problem, we will proceed with formula-
tion of waste discharge requirements.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me at (916)
927-9314.
STEPHEN S. BOLL
Associate Engineer
SSB:sg
cc: Mr. Al Olsen, San Joaquin Local Health District, Stockton
