These
costs were originally estimated at$630,000, and have been updated annually to reflect inflation factors.
Based on this cost escalation, the present value of the corrective action measures is estimated to be
approximately$805,000.
Also per your request,we are transmitting the Certificates of Self Insurance and Risk Management for
the Corral Hollow and North County Sanitary Landfills which were previously requested by the CIWMB
and provided by the County. These were originally requested by the CIWMB in 1992 when the County
established self-insurance policies as financial assurance mechanisms to cover any potential corrective
action costs. Each self-insurance policy is covered through the County's Self-Insurance Trust Fund.
Coverages for each of the County's sites have been afforded at$1,000,000 per occurrence with a
$1,000,000 annual aggregate. The available self-insurance amount therefore exceeds the anticipated cost
of the corrective action measures.
If any additional information is required, please call me at(209)468-3066.
Sincerely,
W.MICHAEL CARROLL,PE
Senior Civil Engineer
MC:NZ:sc
N:\Miscellaneous\KSchwabOl—CorrActFinAssur.wpd
Attachments
c: Robert McCleIlon,Environmental Health Department
LR 50201
