The Foothill Sanitary Landfill operates in accordance with all State and Federal regulations.
The proposed project only increases the quantity of waste accepted per day. The project
poses no threat to human health.
D AGE SYSTEM EXPLANATION
The drainage facilities within the landfill will have the capacity to carry peak flow from a
100 year occurrence storm. The site drainage system will be constructed according to the
Preliminary Closure Plan (see attached figure). Surface runoff will drain to a perimeter ditch
system which drains to several siltation/detention basins around the perimeter. Water will
eventually now off-site to the southeast. The water remaining in the detention basins will be
kept until it evaporates or infiltrates. Run-on from adjacent areas is controlled by
constructing perimeter berms to direct` w -r' away from active disposal areas.
The State Regional Water Quality Control Board has issued new Waste Discharge
Requirements in September 1994. The ground water monitoring system consists of one
upgradient monitoring well (MW -1), one downgradient monitoring well (MW -2), and a water
supply well (LW -1) that is being utilized as a downgradient monitoring point. More
monitoring wells will be added as the landfill is developed. The wells are equipped with
individual dedicated pumps which are used for sampling.
RO.4L167.11
