Mr Richard Castle -2- <br />TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOLID WASTE CLOSURE ENTERPRISE <br />FUNDS FOR FOOTHILL SANITARY LANDFILL AND NORTH COUNTY RECYCLING CENTER AND <br />SANITARY LANDFILL <br />Interest earned by our account is significant because our account balance is significantly greater than the <br />minimum balance required, based on our present closure cost estimates. This "over -balance" is due <br />both to the compounding" ffect of excluding previous years' interest earned and to the downward <br />revision of our closure cost estimates in 2004. 1 understand that your Section has a policy addressing <br />significant over -balances, that it may be possible to temporarily suspend deposits until a more <br />reasonable relationship between the minimum balance and actual balance is reached. I also understand <br />that such suspension is contingent upon verification that the closure cost estimate is reasonable. <br />We appreciate very much your Section's policy allowing this adjustment. We may ask to meet with you <br />or your staff to discuss possible temporary suspension of deposits after the impending re -estimation of <br />closure costs at these landfills is complete. <br />Thank you again for your time.
