2.0 PRIMARY STORAGE TANK (SINGLE WALL TANKS) <br />2.1 The standard primary storage tank shall be rectangular in design. The tank will be <br />constructed of UL 142 specified steel thickness, with continuous welds. <br />2.2 The primary storage tank shall be constructed of ASTM A-569 or A-36 carbon steel, as <br />required for compatibility of product being stored. <br />2.3 The primary tank shall be pressure tested in the factory to UL 142 specifications (3 PSI). <br />2.4 The tank shall be fitted with: a 2" fill port, a 2" normal vent, either a 4", 6" 8" or 10" emergency <br />vent port, a 2" liquid gauging port, two (2) 2" spare ports, and an 18" manway (for tanks with <br />capacities of 5,000 gallons and larger) <br />3.0 SECONDARY CONTAINMENT TANK (DOUBLE WALL TANKS) <br />3.1 The secondary containment tank shall be rectangular in design and constructed of UL 142 <br />specified steel thickness, with continuous welds. <br />3.2 The secondary containment tank shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories as secondary <br />containment under UL 142 standard. <br />3.3 The secondary containment tank shall provide a minimum of 110% secondary containment. <br />3.4 The secondary containment tank shall be equipped with a 2 inch monitoring port and a 4", 6", <br />8", or 10" emergency vent port as required by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. <br />3.5 The secondary containment tank shall be pressure tested in the factory to UL 142 <br />specification (3 PSI). <br />4.0 COATINGS: <br />4.1 The exterior surface of the secondary tank shall be cleansed of foreign material and coated <br />with a corrosion resistant industrial paint (3 to 5 mils dry film thickness). <br />4.2 The standard color shall be desert sand. <br />4.3 An optional coating (FIBERVAULT) can be applied to the exterior surface of the secondary <br />tank to provide resistance to corrosive environments such as salt water spray. <br />4.3.1 The total dry thickness shall be a minimum of 1/8 inch. <br />4.3.2 All threaded openings and flanges shall be protected during the coating process. <br />4.3.3 The coating shall be applied only when the work area and the secondary steel tank <br />are between the temperatures of 32 and 103 degrees F. <br />4.3.4 The standard color shall be desert sand. <br />4.3.5 The coating shall provide a 10 year warranty. <br />March 2009 • ©Copyright 2009 • Containment Solutions, Inc. • All Rights Reserved • Pub.
