C. If any strange material is encountered during drilling, the work area will be <br /> cordoned off and the County's Office of Emergency Services (OES) will be <br /> notified. The' affected work area will be flagged and excluded from other <br /> work areas until the strange material is characterized by IDES. SWUs <br /> staff and drilling contractor will not attempt to remove or handle suspicious <br /> material. SWD will contact PSG environmental to remove and dispose <br /> any hazardous materials. <br /> D. SWUs contractor is required to follow OSHA safety rules and regulations <br /> during this project. Hard hats, safety glasses and safety vests will be <br /> required for personnel working near the construction area and operating <br /> heavy equipment. <br /> E. The gem will be used to measure methane concentrations in the work <br /> area. Workers will not perform work that involves sources of combustion <br /> (such as welding equipment) or other work that generates temperatures <br /> that could ignite methane unless the work area has been verified to meet <br /> safety requirements. <br /> F. Site personnel will be notified to call 9-1-1during an emergency.
