)NEMLWWL AUL <br /> SPECIFICATIONS <br /> for ' <br /> HYGI-AERATION SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS <br /> General <br /> The M. C. Nottingham Co. will furnish and install a complete extended sewage treatment <br /> plant at the location shown in the plans and in accordance with these specifications. <br /> The treatment plant shall be complete with all equipment necessary to treat domestic sewage.. <br /> The plant shall include a trash tank, aeration compartments and a final settling tank. <br /> The plant shall be designed to withstand normal pressures from the soil and the internal <br /> hydrostatic loads. <br /> The plant shall be installed on a concrete pad of adequate design or on approved <br /> compacted soil. <br /> Construction <br /> Each plant shall be composed of the proper number of aeration tanks of either 2500 gallon <br /> or 3500 gallon capacity with a settling compartment of the proper size. The tanks shall <br /> ^be of precast reinforced concrete sections with a minimum compressive strength of 3000 PSI. <br /> The sections shall be installed and sealed to form a water-tight plant. The aeration <br /> tanks shall be interconnected by a minimum of 6 - 6" cast iron pipes installed below the <br /> static water level. A minimum of 3 - 6" cast iron pipes shall connect the aeration tank <br /> with the settling compartment. All interconnecting pipes shall be sealed to make <br /> water-tight connections. The ,settling tanks shall have a steel baffle on the inlet end <br /> and adjustable outlet weir gn the outlet end. All aeration tank openings shall be <br /> covered with removable steel covers. The final tanks shall be covered with removable <br /> galvanized grating. The blower shall be installed on a concrete pad near the plant with <br /> all necessary electrical controls and the connecting air piping to the plant. <br /> Plant Design Data <br /> The aeration tank shall be of a capacity equal to the design daily flow. The organic <br /> loading shall not exceed 20 pounds B. 0. D. per 1000 cu. ft. of aeration compartment. <br /> The design flow shall be that required by the local authorities.
