1, 11. K[I IN I I I [R & AY(W I I I File No. S-2008-1
June 27 , 1973
PAGE TWO
drilling and our examination of the soil samples , it does
not appear that this water represents a static groundwater
level. It is very likely, .however, that this perched water
will exist while the fields north of this property are
under irrigation.
We understand from Mr. Gama that an equivalent fluid
pressure of 36 pounds per cubic foot has been assumed in
design of the pumping station walls . It is our opinion that
this equivalent fluid pressure is appropriate, assuming that
an open excavation will be made and that sandy backfill will
be placed adjacent to the walls of the sunip.
It appears from Test Boring 5 that water will be
encountered during excavation for the Eumpino facility near
Lots 113 and 114 . Based on the availa le da0ta , we anticipate
that the flow of water can be handled during construcLion by
a sump and pump system. However, we recommend that you
consider installing permanent drains to relieve hydrostatic
pressure on the walls of the pumping station.,
The subsurface data collected to date does not indicate
a perched water condition near the pumping station south
of the East Bay Municipal Utility District easement .
Our laboratory testing, and preparation* of recommendations
for site preparation and grading, foundations , floor slabs ,
and other data for the proposed subdivision are in progress .
We will transmit the results of this information as soon as
it is available.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please
contact us .
Respectfully submitted,
J.
