SPECIAL PROVISIONS - CAST IN PLACE CONCRETE PIPE <br /> Cast in place pipe shall be constructed by a process that has been successfully <br /> used and by a Contractor that has satisfactorly constructed comparable pipe <br /> for at least five (5) years. Both process and qualifications of the Contractor <br /> shall be acceptable to the Engineer. <br /> Prequalifications as described in the foregoing paragraph shall be approved <br /> by the Engineer prior to the opening of bids. <br /> Acceptance of pipe shall be based upon meeting the tests herein specified <br /> and by inspection to determine the conformance with the Standard Specifi- <br /> cations and these Special Provisions. Any unacceptable portion of the pipe- <br /> line shall be repaired or replaced to meet thesb specifications at the expense <br /> of the Contractor. <br /> Concrete shall be Type II Portland Cement. Slump shall not exceed 2 inches <br /> as determined by the Slump Cone Test ASTM Designation C-143-58 and <br /> amendments thereto, unless a modification of this slump is ordered by the <br /> Engineer. <br /> Aggregate for pipe 48 inches or less in diameter shall not exceed one inch, <br /> or one and one-half (11) inch aggregate for pipes larger than 48 inches in <br /> diameter. <br /> Compressive strength of concrete shall not be less than 1400 psi at three (3) <br /> days, nor less than 2100 psi at seven (7) days, nor less than 3500 psi at <br /> twenty-eight (28) days, as determined by moist-cured test cylinders. <br /> Pipe trench shall be excavated to the lines and grade shown on the plans <br /> therefore, or as directed by the Engineer. The trench bottom shall be graded <br /> and prepared to provide firm and uniform support by undisturbed or compacted <br /> earth throughout the bottom 230 degrees of the pipe periphery. <br /> Where strata or lenses of loose sand, silt or other noncohesive soils are <br /> encountered below the contact line of the pipe and trench wall, such strata <br /> or lenses may be stabilized by the application of asphaltic emulsions or <br /> cement mortar membranes which will provide a stable surface free from voids, <br /> or by overexcavaffo'n 'and`r'ep'tac'ement with concrete as the. pips Is.poured. <br /> No additional com6gnsation will be allowed for such trench treatment. <br /> [� PLi'3'14,' P.gfir;v <br /> ❑ Ow;,;:r <br /> En <br /> CJ ArchitEQt ""."••..._ <br /> Other .... ........ .'_Y� .............................. <br />
