Special Provisions - CIPP (Con't)
The lower portion of the pipe interior below the forms shall be hand
trowelled to a smooth float finish, unless a mechanical trowelling or
other device produces results satisfactory to the Engineer, is used.
A slump test will be made of each truckload of concrete before place-
ment and slump shall not exceed that specified herein by more than one-
half inch (,") .
Two (2) six (6) inch be twelve (12) inch compressive test cylinders con-
forming to ASTM Designation C-31 shall be cast from each load of concrete.
Each cylinder shall be marked with the line, station, date and batch ticket
number. One cylinder of each pour will be tested in conformance with
ASTM Designation C-39 after three (3) days or seven (7) days as deter-
mined by the Engineer. The other held for additional testing if required
by the Engineer. The cost of such compression tests will be borne by the
Contractor.
Should more than two (2) cylinders tested from any day's pour fall more
than 10 percent (10%) below the minimum compressive strength specified,
cores will be taken from the pipe and tested at the expense of the Contractor.
If core tests indicate compressive strength more than twenty percent (200)
below the specified minimum compressive strength, that portion of pipe
shall be removed and replaced with precast pipe. Prior to the removal of
such substandard pipe, the Contractor may elect, at his own expense, to
perform a load test which shall be in conformance with ASTM Designation
C-76, except that the test shall be made in place without the bottom sandbox.
Acceptance of the pipe will be based upon the pipe withstanding one hundred
ten percent (1100) of the calculated trench and live load without visible
cracking.
Obvious segregation, honeycombing or inadequate wall thickness encoun-
tered during the inspection may be cause for rejection by the Engineer.
Estimated quantities are intended to indicate the approximate magnitude of
the work and to serve as an equitable basis for the award of the Contract.
The actual work performed will be used to compute the total amount due
the Contractor.
The Contract unit price per lineal foot of concrete pipe shall include all labor,
materials and equipment necessary 10 atr& ch, 66nf63 all ob-
structions, rem a and replace all thtdi#i' necessary, place the pipe,
backfill-the-tren , restore.th f( other work necessary to
produce a complete and finishe siance with the Plans and Spec-
ifications and he detaihdeawl' IMP Y !
h ^-.:b!ic Agency ................................
................................... -------- ------ .......
[ (;,I tect ......... ..................
-ta-
