Special Provisions - CIPP (Con't)
1. By covering the exposed portion of the pipe, immediately after place-
ment, with polyethlene film, or with wet burlap or other material of equal
moisture. 1
2. A backfill of moist loose soil or sand, free from particles greater than
two (2) inches in diameter, shall be carefully hand placed to a depth of
six (6) inches over the top of the pipe.
In the event method "2" is used, a three inch (311) layer of moist initial
backfill shall be spread upon the pipe as soon after placement as possible
without damaging the concrete. This layer shall be increased to six (6)
inches after the initial set of the concrete. If burlap is used for curing
the initial backfill shall be placed immediately after the removal of the burlap.
The initial backfill shall be kept moist until an additional twelve (12) inches
of backfill can be placed. Backfill shall be completed as soon as pipe
strength permits, in conformance with the Standard Specifications. A
maximum of twelve (12) inches of loose soil may be placed over the top of
the pipe until the concrete compressive strength reaches 700 psi and pipe
has been in place twenty-four (24) hours or longer.
Upon satisfaction of this requirement, and with permission from the
Engineer, the trench may be backfilled with loose material, Compaction
shall not take place until the concrete strength reaches 1000 psi and the
pipe has been in place forty-eight (48) hours or longer.
Only light traffic (axle load less than 6000 pounds) may be routed over
the pipe when backfilled until the concrete compressive strength reaches
1400 psi, and the pipe has been in place seventy-two (72) hours or longer.
The Contractor shall be responsible for correcting any damage to cast-in-place
pipe caused by premature or excessice loading prior to the end of a seven (7)
day curing period.
The above allows loose filling of the trench to allow passage of traffic,
but does not relieve the Contractor from proper compaction of the trench
which may be started after seven (7) days curing period.
Backfill and compaction will be in conformance with the requirements of
Drawing G-2 of the Standard Specifications of San Joaquin County and Typical
Trench Sectio ! erf jmprovemnt Pl,ari 1
All pipe openi SII bei kept tightly closed for a er3od,o>3Qiaen (7)
days except where work is in,progress.
Flow line elevation shall not vary more`thah-&. 0Opftj4 minus from the
design gra Co i rIcy .......---
................................
i_j (7✓ner ............................................
Engineer .......................
Architect ..............
Other ....................:_.....
•••••••u..u.u.nw.Lwwp-w.w.un.YpenoPeo.. ,_ ewe.
