Eighth Street I-5 NB Ramos - Install a 3-phase traffic
signal . ( Project 's share is 4 percent. )
Alternative Imorovements for Lever and Manthey Intersections
To avoid potential complications of signalization likely to
occur because of the close proximity of the Manthey, I-5 SB
Ramps, and I-5 NB Ramps intersections , alternate recommended
improvements for the Lever and Manthey intersections have
been developed. These improvements require right of way
acquisition to realign Manthey Road to intersect with Lever
Boulevard south of Eighth Street. This might be obtainable
as dedication when the currently vacant property involved
develops . The existing portion of Manthey Road south of
Eighth Street would be terminated as a cul de sac and the
Eighth/Manthey intersection would remain unsignalized. The
new Lever/Manthey intersection would also be uasignalized.
Figure 3 shows diagrammatically the recommended realignment
of Manthey Road .
The Eighth/Lever intersection would require 3-phase
signalization to satisfactorily accommodate the resulting
traffic volumes at buildout levels . The eastbound Eighth
approach should provide two approach lanes . The westbound
Eighth approach should provide two through lanes and two
left-turn lanes. The northbound Lever approach should
provide a left-turn lane and a right-turn lane, which can be
done without widening .
7r/
✓jl Joseph R.Holland 9 Consulting Traffic Engineer
