About Reverse Osmosis
Reverse Osmosis Water Systems are ideal for residential or small commercial applications requiring a consistent supply of high
quality water in a simple and compact package. Designed by IWP to be a modular system using mostly common non-proprietary
components which allows for cost effective maintenance and the highest degree of reliability. Systems are designed to produce
from 35 to 500 gallons of high quality reverse osmosis water per day. Available in many configurations including pressure boost-
ed, permeate pumps, non electric high flow ASV, or simple direct flow designs.
The Filtration Process
MECHINICAL FILTRATION - The typical pre-filter reduces dirt, silt, rust and other sediment in the water. Its 5 micron (equal to
0.0002 inch) nominal rating helps to give a maximum life to the carbon filtration step.
ACTIVIATED CARBON - Carbon reduces chlorine, chloramine, organic chemicals, tastes and odors and protects the membrane.
REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANES-The R.O. Membrane is designed to reduce the dissolved mineral content of the water. In the
Reverse Osmosis process, dissolved minerals are separated from the incoming water (Feed) to produce the product water
(Permeate). The excess minerals are rinsed to drain (Concentrate). The R.O. membranes have a typical rejection of >90%. This
water is then stored in either an atmospheric tank or a pressurized storage tank for future use..
POST FILTRATION - The most common post filter is an activated cabon media which is designed to give the water an enhanced
"polished" taste. Other common post filters include Deionization filters which reduce the TDS to typically below 1 ppm, Calcite
filters which raise pH and increase the tds/calcium levels, and Alkaline filters which are intended to raise the pH and lower the
ORP.
OPTIONAL ULTRA VIOLET or Quantum Disinfection- The water passes through an Ultra Violet or Quantum Disinfection chamber
which reduces the potential of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms from contaminating the high quality water.
Replacement Parts and Consumables
Description Est.
