TMRIWS
Page 2.
Provide EHD a detailed schematic of the property showing the location of the well, pressure tank,
backflow prevention assemblies, water lines (i.e. irrigation, fire, and domestic), the
existing/proposed septic system, and a 100% replacement septic area. In addition please identify
the distances from the location of the well to all of the potential sources of contamination and
pollution listed in Section 3.1 of the San Joaquin County Well Standards (enclosed).
2. Complete the Water System Declaration form to determine the population the water system will
serve (i.e. number of employees and students, etc).
3. The following water quality testing shall be completed from the well prior to EHD approving the
water source for a use as a public water system. The results of this monitoring shall be submitted
to EHD. State certified laboratory personnel shall do the sampling of the well and testing of the
water from a state approved laboratory facility. Instruct the laboratory to label these samples as
"Well 1" for the well and obtain the water samples from the wellhead.
a. Secondary. aesthetics): Bicarbonate, carbonate, and hydroxide alkalinity, calcium, iron,
magnesium, manganese, pH, sodium, and total hardness are due at least once (California Code
of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Section 64449).
b. Inorganic chemicals plus perchlorate: Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22,
Section 64432 (b)(1)). This Department currently waives asbestos and cyanide. If a perchlorate
sample result exceeds the Detection Limit, then additional monitoring may be required.
C. Nitrates: Required annually. Sampling shall be quarterly if the results exceed % of the
Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 45mg/L (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (a)).
d. Nitrites: Required once every three years (CCR, Title 22, Section 64432 (a)).
e. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): Required once every 6 years. If a sample result
exceeds the Detection Limit, then sampling shall be quarterly for that VOC (CCR, Title 22,
Section 64445 and 64445.1).
f. Synthetic Organic Compounds (SOCs): Required once every three years. If a sample result
exceeds the Detection Limit, then sampling shall be quarterly for that SOC (CCR, Title 22,
Section 64445.1). This Department currently waives SOCs except for DBCP and EDB.
g. Radiological: Required quarterly for one year for Gross Alpha. If the results are all below the
Detection Limit, than sampling will be waived to once every nine years. If a sample result
exceeds the Detection Limit than additional monitoring will be required by EHD (CCR, Title
22, Section 64443.
h. Bacteriological: This Department will require at least two consecutive bacteriological samples
collected from the well head that are Total Coliform Absent and Fecal Absent. The tests shall
be taken and reported within a seven-day period and in no case be completed more than twenty-
eight (28) days prior to use of the well. The water samples collected for the presence of
bacteria shall be tested for chlorine residuals. The chlorine residual levels shall be recorded on
the bacteriological lab results. The chlorine residual shall be less than 0.05 ppm for the
bacteriological result to be accepted. Routine bacteriological samples will then be required
once each calendar month from the distribution system at the Routine sample site, per the
Sample Site Plan.
4. Complete the enclosed Sample Siting Plan. Contact EHD for assistance with this plan.
