The region has been dry land and irrigated farmed for the several years. Irrigation is provided by
irrigation wells and the Delta Mendota Canal. Records at the San Joaquin County Agricultural
Commissioner's office indicate pasture, alfalfa, row crops, orchards and cattle are the
predominate agricultural production in this area.
STANDARD PUBLIC ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD SOURCES
County, State and Federal environmental records were reviewed for sites which may have
impacted the subject property. The databases accessed did not indicate a problem or potential
problem with the subject site. Many decades ago, in some areas of the County, small, temporary
dump sites were created in the rural countryside. There is no indication or records that the
subject property was ever used as a dump site.
The subject property has been owned by Mrs. Wesely's parents since August of 1999. Prior to
this, the Pishos Living Trust owned the property for approximately 10 years. Due to this long
length of ownership, prior owners of the subject property were not investigated and it can be
reasonably concluded that the likelihood of environmental impact from previous ownership is
highly remote.
There are two primary sources of information which can document and define past land use,
although they are occasionally difficult to interpret. The first is the use of aerial photographs.
Aerial photographs of the subject area in the 1970's indicates the residence on parcel "A,"
adjacent to the west side of Lammers Road to be the only structure near the subject property. A
second source of information are United States Geological Survey (USGS) Maps. The attached
USGS map for the study area reveals no structures on the subject property. A petroleum pipeline
and oil tanks are denoted on the map and are located to the north of the property.
INFORMATION FROM SITE RECONNAISSANCE AND INTERVIEWS
The following information was obtained visually and/or through interviews with Mrs. Wesely's
father, Mr. Emmett Lee, who currently owns the property, Mr. Wesely and Mr. Rich Paulson of
Schack& Company who is coordinating this project: The subject property contains no
underground or above ground storage tanks (USTs/ASTs). This was confirmed by reviewing the
tank records at the Environmental Health Department. The residence is supplied by electricity
exclusively;therefore, there is no propane tank for heating and cooking. As referenced, there is
an on-site, conventional septic system with tanks, leachfield areas and possible seepage pits or
sumps. There were no drums or other containers which may have contained hazardous material
on the subject property. Therefore, there is no environmental concern regarding storage of
hazardous materials.
2
Valley Ag Research
