In addition to the standard percolation tests conducted, an in -field falling head permeability test
was conducted by measuring the volume of water the 25 ft test boring absorbs over four hours.
The field results are also found in Appendix F. Table 3 below illustrates the falling head volumes
every 30 minutes, then extrapolated in the third column to a 48 inch diameter seepage pit from the
4.5 inch diameter test boring.
TABLE 3
FALLING HEAD PERMEABILITY TESTS RESULTS
TIME ELAPSE
(IN MINUTES)
WATER VOLUME ABSORBED
IN 4.5" DIA. The Soil Analysis Report
found in Appendix G illustrates the chemical and texture analysis of this soil sample with the
important characteristics listed below in Table 3:
TABLE 4
SOIL CHARACTERISTICS FROM 15-25 FT DEPTH
ANALYTICAL TEST RESULTS
SAMPLE
SOIL
SAND/SILT/CLAY
NITRATE-
TOTAL
pH
CATION
I.D.
TEXTURE
PERCENTAGES
NITROGEN
KJELDAHL
EXCHANGE
DEPTH
NITROGEN
CAPACITY
15-25 FT
Sandy Loam
67% 14% 19%
6 ppm NO, -N
NT
6.9
7.2 mcy/IUUK
Page -4-
Chesney Consulting
