November 29, 1984
EVELYN L. COSTA
Representing The Fifth District
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Dear Santos Ranch Residents:
Room 701, Courthouse
222 East Weber Avenue
Stockton, California 95202
Telephone 209/934-3113
ANITA M. ACKERMAN
Administrative Assistant
In response to the questions asked at the October 24, 1984 meet-
ing, the following is submitted for your information:
1. Is it possible to monitor the wells at the Santos Ranch
areas as part of a semi-annual groundwater study?,
ANSWER:
The Flood Control District does not monitor wells in the
South County area in its semi-annual groundwater study,
as past monitoring has shown no conclusive correlation
between various wells. Monitoring of the private wells
in the Santos Ranch area, which are sealed to a depth of
fifty feet, would not give true indication of the depth
of the perched groundwater.
The only water quality testing which is conducted by the
- groundwater study is for specific conductance and total
dissolved solids, which are not primary drinking water
standards.
2. Are test results of the well currently being constructed
in the Santos Ranch No. 5 area available?
ANSWER:
Attached, are copies of test results conducted for the
Los Ranchos Subdivision well to a depth of 515 feet.
The test results conducted on the strata which lies 72-80
feet below the surface and which probably represents the
strata from which the private wells in Santos Ranch are
drawing water, indicates the following standards are not
being met:
Iron
Total dissolved solids
Specific conductance
(micromhos per cm)
Nitrate as NO
3
State
Mg/1 present Allowable Standard
.41 .3 Secondary
1,637 1,000 Secondary
2,183 1,600 Secondary
74 45 Primary
