22 October 2021
Project No. 21-6639
through Underground Service Alert (USA/811). The EHD will be contacted at least 72
hours prior to conducting investigation activities to coordinate a grout inspection.

2.2. SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT AND SAMPLING

AGI proposes to advance four (4) soil borings at the site utilizing a van-mounted
Geoprobe 5400 direct-push probing unit (or equivalent) equipped with 1.45-inch diameter
probing rods. The Geoprobe advances soil probe borings using a hydraulic hammer to
drive sampling tools to specified depths.

Soil samples will be collected at selected depths from each boring using a 1.45-inch
Geoprobe soil sampling assembly. Field screening of soil samples shall be performed
using an organic vapor meter (OVM), equipped with photo-ionization detector (PID) pre-
calibrated to isobutylene.

Grab groundwater samples will be collected from each boring. A Geoprobe (or similar)
push-driven water sampling device will be advanced into the water-bearing zone.
Samples will be collected using a Geoprobe water sampling assembly fitted with a pre-
cleaned, one-inch diameter 0.01-slotted temporary well screen. The screen will be
removed upon completion of sampling.

2.3. SOIL AND GROUNDWATER LABORATORY ANALYSIS

Selected soil and grab groundwater samples may be submitted to an appropriately
certified laboratory for analysis. Analysis shall be performed at the sole discretion of AGI.

2.4. BORING ABANDONMENT

All soil borings will be permanently sealed to prevent vertical migration of potential
contaminants. Soil borings shall be abandoned by backfilling with cement grout from the
total depth to surface grade. The top three to six inches of the boring abandonments will
be completed flush to surface grade with concrete or native material. The EHD will be
notified for grout inspection at least 72 hours prior to conducting grouting procedures.

2.5. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION/WASTE MANAGEMENT

All sampling tools used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water
after being washed with a solution of Alconox. All probing rods will be cleaned prior to
advancement at each probe boring location. Any soil or water waste generated during
field activities will be containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved drums and stored
