Leak Detection
Petro-Trip I & II Sensors
These automatic shut-off devices are designed to trip the shear valve in the
event of a fuel leak collecting in the bottom of the Dispenser Pan or Sump. ,
These devices have a spring loaded arm which will release, when the -
PetroTrip Rod degrades in the presence of gasoline, pulling the trip wire,
which is connected to the fusible link of the shear valve. The Petro-Trip I is
designed for Dispenser Pans and the Petro-Trip II for Dispenser Sumps. r
Petro-Trip I Petro-Trip 11
Mounting
Lock Nut _ Petro-Trip devices can be mounted to the stabilizer bar or to the dispenser
Lock Nut ____°.__._ sump/pan's side strut. After assembling the sensor as shown to the left,
mount it to the stabilizer bar or side strut using the spring nut and bolt provid-
ed to secure the assembly. Make sure that the foot is on the surface of the
p sump/pan bottom.
r Spring Nut&Bolt
C
Spr,ng Nut - _ Petro-Trip Rod Hook-up
&Boit Screw the metal screw provided into the hole in the bottom of the Petro-Trip
Boit&Nut Rod so that it is secure. Insert the top of the rod through the swing arm hole
-J - and the push the lock nut onto the top of the rod. Holding the swing arm down
and level, slip the screw on the bottom of the rod into the foot slot. Next,
release the tension on the swing arm and adjust the lock nut so that the swing
Extention Bracket arm remains level.
Petrol Trip Petro-Trip„Rod .— _-_ Shear Valve Hook-up
After tying the trip wire to the swing
Rod ` ' arm of the sensor, attach the spring
clip to the other end of the trip wire.
i Next clip the spring clip to the fusible
screw j
link of the shear valve, as shown.
eon&Nut a `_ Allow for a little wire slack when the
swing arm is in the horizontal posi-
t-- screw \ - tion.
PetroTrip Mounting Locations & Connections
Each Petro-Trip device is designed to trip only one shear valve. Therefore, the device should be mounted to the stabilizer bar or side strut in the most convenient
location to effectively trip the shear valve desired. Shown below is an example mounting configuration for tripping three shear valves.
o o
,
0
o o
T
