Motor oil, latex paint and antifreeze may be bulked during the collection event if <br />done within a secured area away from the receiving area. The bulking of solvents, oil- <br />based paints or gasoline, shall not occur during hours when wastes are being accepted <br />and the bulking thereof shall be conducted in compliance with a written protocol <br />approved by local fire and air quality control management district in which the collection <br />event is located. <br />16. Batteries shall be shipped to a permitted battery recycler. <br />17. No intentional releases of hazardous waste shall be made to the land, air, or <br />water. Spilled and leaked waste shall be collected immediately to prevent further <br />contamination. <br />18. Radioactive waste shall not be accepted at the collection site (with the exception <br />of smoke detectors/alarms). <br />19. Any wastes not covered in this variance delivered to the collection site that are <br />determined to pose a danger to human health and/or the environment may be accepted <br />by the event coordinators provided the wastes are properly handled and disposed of as <br />soon as possible. <br />20. Compressed gas containers (greater than twenty pounds), reactive waste, and <br />explosives (including ammunition) shall not be accepted at the collection site (unless <br />the staff is able to immediately contact the appropriate authorities to properly handle the <br />disposal of the wastes). Such waste shall be placed in a contained area away from the <br />public for prompt removal by the appropriate authorities. <br />21. Compressed gas containers (up to twenty pounds), aerosol cans, and smoke <br />detectors/alarms may be collected if directed to appropriate recycling, manufacturing or <br />disposal facilities. <br />22. All collected waste shall be secured in a fenced area, a locked building, or <br />remain under twenty-four hour surveillance until removed. <br />23. All wastes shall be removed within 144 hours of the end of each collection event <br />by registered hazardous waste transporters to appropriate permitted treatment, storage <br />or disposal facilities.
